Confrontations with the PRC seem to be on the rise, which is a problem compounded by the fact that we owe them so much money. A lot of money.

This is one of the many issues that President Obama needs to address, as much as a part of our economic recovery as our national security. There is an increasing global perception that our economic problems are weakening our military, and therefore leaving us vulnerable.

As China's economy improves, it is investing heavily in its military. Eventually, they will want to challenge our position as top dog. When that happens, and it will be at a time when we are most vulnerable, the only outcome that is certain is that the effects will be felt globally.

We can hope it doesn't come to that, but we should also prepare for the worst.
